The Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Szczecin, after a positive review of the application, has granted the Maritime Search and Rescue Service in Gdynia a subsidy of more than PLN 640 thousand for the purchase of 4 UTV-type rescue vehicles with trailers.
The Maritime Search and Rescue Service in Gdynia carries out public tasks of strategic importance to the Baltic Sea region, with particular emphasis on the Polish area of responsibility for maritime search and rescue as well as protection of the marine environment.
The investment will contribute to the improvement of public safety by increasing the potential of rescue services. The effect will be to improve the effectiveness of the SAR Service's activities preventing the occurrence of extraordinary environmental hazards and supporting the elimination of their consequences, as well as searching for and reaching the victim and reducing the effects of direct threats to health and life in the event of extraordinary environmental hazards, or monitoring the phenomena and elimination of the consequences of natural disasters due to the size of the search areas.
This will also enable the adaptation of operations to natural conditions - minimizing the effects of operations in protected and naturally valuable areas by reducing the adverse impact of the movement of heavy rescue vehicles on protected and naturally valuable areas.
The purchase of UTV-type rescue vehicles will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Public Procurement Law.
